This website
- This site has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies. It's static pages hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses for security (GitHub privacy statement).
- Store, booking and deal links open third-party sites. When you click them, those sites (for example Amazon) may set their own cookies to credit a referral. Their privacy policies apply.
- The Deals page asks Slickdeals' public feed for deal posts from your browser, so Slickdeals sees that request.
- Searches you type into the Gear Shop or lodging finder are sent only to the store or site you pick, when you pick it.
Your World Hunt AI app
The app's privacy policy follows. It's the same policy linked from Google Play.
App: Your World Hunt AI (shown on Google Play and your home screen as “Your World Hunt”)
Package: com.yourworld.hunt
Last updated: 2026-10-09
This is a plain-language privacy policy for the Android app Your World Hunt AI.
Hunting / maps — not legal or safety advice
Map layers (including public-land / parcel-style overlays), property boundaries, GPS return, weather, and alerts are informational guides only. They are not a legal survey, not a guarantee of access rights, and not a substitute for official regulations, landowner permission, or emergency services. Always confirm access and follow your state wildlife agency and local laws.
Freemium + add-on subscriptions (Google Play)
The app is freemium. Core hunting map features work without a purchase (including 1 stand, moon phase and sun/moon rise-set times). Premium (ywhunt_premium, ~$5/mo with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers; current price and trial are shown in Google Play before you confirm) unlocks map power features, including unlimited stands and marks, trail cams (placing cams, linking cell-cam accounts, photo sync and Hunt AI ID), deer feeding times, the live US public-land overlay, track history / GPX export, Close-Buddy live GPS, and extended weather/notify options. Land Packs (ywhunt_land_*), Dog Pack (ywhunt_dogs) and Sharp Shooter (ywhunt_sharp) are separate add-ons. Optional cosmetic add-ons: ywhunt_avatars_pro, ywhunt_arsenal (cosmetic skins only — not firearm sales), ywhunt_outfitter. Google Play Billing processes payment; we do not store full card numbers. Manage or cancel in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
What stays on your device
- Hunt marks, tracks, and settings are stored locally.
- Close-Buddy data stays on device unless you enable optional live sync for mutual GPS.
- Avatar / cosmetic choices stay on device.
Location
The app uses approximate / precise location (when granted) for map centering, GPS return, tracking, lean weather/alerts, and optional Close-Buddy live sharing. Sharing publishes your position to paired buddies only when you turn it ON. Foreground tracking may show a persistent notification while active.
Set location (manual). At any time (for example, if GPS isn't available), you can search for a city, ZIP code or address and set it as your location. You can also type latitude/longitude coordinates into the search, or tap Weather Here on a mark's long-press menu to use that mark's position. These are all handled the same way: the place you pick (name and coordinates) is saved only on your device until you tap "Use GPS", and weather, wind and barometric pressure are fetched from public weather providers for that point (moon/sun and feeding times are shown for it too).
Search queries. Place names and ZIP codes you type into location search are sent to Open-Meteo's geocoding service (https://open-meteo.com/en/terms). For street addresses (or when Open-Meteo finds nothing), the text is sent to your phone's built-in Android geocoder (run by Google on most phones, https://policies.google.com/privacy). Latitude/longitude you type is read on your device and is not sent to a geocoding service.
Last known location. The app saves your most recent GPS position on your device so it can show local weather when GPS can't get a fix. It is not uploaded anywhere by the developer.
Camera and on-device AI (Sharp Shooter rangefinder)
Camera. The Sharp Shooter camera rangefinder uses your phone's camera to show a live preview so you can bracket a target and estimate its distance. The app asks for camera permission only when you open the rangefinder or choose to take a harvest or trail-cam photo. Rangefinder camera frames are processed on your device only. They are never saved, recorded, or uploaded, and they are not shared with us or anyone else. Photos you choose to take for a harvest or trail-cam mark are stored with that mark as before.
On-device AI fit. The optional "AI fit" feature uses Google ML Kit on-device object detection and on-device image labeling, which run entirely on your device with models bundled in the app. Object detection finds the main object in the live preview and places the measuring brackets. When you tap an object, a crop of that live frame is labeled on the phone only to suggest a size preset. No images, camera frames, or crops are sent to Google or to us, and none are saved, recorded, or uploaded. As with other Google ML Kit features, the ML Kit library may send Google anonymous usage and performance diagnostics (for example, which API was used and how long processing took), which never include images or your location. See https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/terms.
Rangefinder settings. A per-device calibration number for the rangefinder is stored locally in the app's settings and is not uploaded.
Accuracy. Rangefinder distances are estimates based on an assumed target size and are not a substitute for a laser rangefinder.
Ask Hawk (planner assistant) — on your device
What Hawk uses. Ask Hawk answers from information already in the app on your phone: your expeditions (species, dates, base camp), hunt-day scores, the forecast the app has already fetched, your map marks, the LAND layer if it is loaded, your LAND pack coverage, saved lodging, kit and budget. Your questions and Hawk's answers are processed on your device. They are not sent to us or to any AI service, and the chat is not saved after you close it. Changes Hawk suggests (for example adding a stand to a day or setting base camp) are applied only when you tap them.
Optional on-device model. With Premium or the Expedition Pack you can turn on "On-device Ask Hawk (~557 MB download)" in Settings. The app then downloads Google's Gemma 3 1B model file once from our release page on GitHub (github.com). Like any download, GitHub's servers see your IP address and the request (https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-general-privacy-statement). The model is stored in the app's private storage, is excluded from backups, runs entirely on your phone, and can be deleted in Settings at any time. No chat text is uploaded. Gemma is provided under and subject to the Gemma Terms of Use found at ai.google.dev/gemma/terms.
Microphone and voice. The app asks for microphone permission only when you tap the mic in Ask Hawk, and listens only until you finish speaking. Your speech is turned into text by your phone's speech recognizer: on-device when your phone offers an on-device recognizer (Android 12 and later on supported phones); otherwise the app asks your phone's speech service to prefer offline recognition, and that service (Google's on most phones) may process the audio under its own privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). The app itself does not record, save or upload audio. Hawk's spoken replies use your phone's text-to-speech engine and play only when you used the mic or tap the speaker button.
Plan a Hunt (trip planner)
- Stored on your device. Expeditions, itinerary, kit, budget, crew names, journal entries, saved lodging and tag/draw deadline reminders are stored only on your phone.
- Deadline reminders are local notifications scheduled on your phone from the dates you enter. They are not uploaded.
- Trip forecast. When an expedition's dates fall within the next 10 days, the trip spot's coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo (api.open-meteo.com, https://open-meteo.com/en/terms) to get the daily forecast, which is cached on your device.
- Links to other sites. Find Lodging, shop, outfitter and military-resource links open third-party websites or apps (lodging searches include the trip area, dates and party size so the results match your trip). Those sites have their own privacy policies; the app does not receive your searches or bookings.
- Sharing and PDFs happen only when you tap Share or Export.
- Kits & Gear. Your My Gear list (items you check off or add) and dismissed gear tips are stored only on your phone, separate from your expeditions. Shop buttons open the retailer's own search in your browser only when you tap them; Amazon links carry our Associates tag. Ask Hawk's packing answers come from the app's built-in kit lists and your trip's forecast, on your phone.
Hunt AI (optional, uses your own AI key)
Ask Hunt AI and Hunt AI trail-cam ID are optional and work only after you add your own API key for an AI provider (OpenAI, xAI Grok, Anthropic, or a custom endpoint you choose) in Settings. When you tap them, the app sends the request directly from your phone to that provider: Ask Hunt AI sends the land unit or parcel details shown for that spot (such as unit name and owner/manager fields) to draft a permission call/text script, and Hunt AI trail-cam ID sends the trail-cam photo you chose to identify. The provider handles that data under its own terms and privacy policy, not ours; we do not receive it. Your key is stored only on your phone and is excluded from backups. Ask Hawk does not use this key and never sends your chats to an AI provider.
Contacts (Close-Buddy — Premium)
Uses the system contact picker (no blanket address-book read). Optional text opens Messages with a draft — you tap Send (no SEND_SMS).
Product Pulse (on-device)
Optional on-device product signals only; no PII / GPS / tokens. Export is user-chosen. Nothing uploaded to the developer by default.
What we do not do (current build)
- No ads / no advertising ID
- No sale of personal data
- No third-party tracking SDKs in the current build
- No sale of real firearms or ammunition (Arsenal is cosmetic only)
Network calls go to public map/weather/land sources, location-search (geocoding) services when you search for a place, Open-Meteo for trip forecasts, GitHub for the optional Ask Hawk model download, and optional buddy sync you enable. If you connect a SpyPoint or Reveal trail-cam account, your login is stored on your phone and sent only to that company's sign-in service (for Reveal, its Amazon Cognito login) to fetch your cam photos.
